Reversing Camera Installation GuideCLICK HERE to read our Installation Guide Vehicle Reversing Systems - Installation Guide*Mounting the Camera – For TrucksWhen fitting a camera for use as a reversing aid, the most useful position for mounting the camera is at high level in the centre of the rear external panel of the vehicle. The angle of the camera can be adjusted to suit individual requirements. The camera bracket can be fitted using rivets or self-tapping screws. Cut a 20mm hole (using a hole cutter) in the rear panel to feed the cable and connector through. The rubber grommet supplied should be fitted into the hole to form a tight seal. Feed camera cable into hole and connect to socket end of 20M cable inside vehicle. The long cable should be fed through or under the body of the vehicle, concealed if possible. Secure the cable with cable ties or clips. Run the cable through to the lower part of the dashboard area, where it can then be connected to the system power box. Mounting the Camera – For Utility Vehicles, Pick-up trucks and CarsSelect a central position at the rear of your vehicle. If the bumper is suitable, consider our Bumper fitting tube Camera. A low level position is good if there is a suitable area. The camera gives an ultra wide-angle view and can be adjusted to suit individual requirements. Follow the guidelines above to feed the cable through to the monitor. Power ConnectionMount the power box in a space behind the dashboard. Power for this system is either 12 or 24vdc. Both power and reverse feeds should be connected to the supply. The reverse feed usually comes from the reversing light circuit, and can either be traced to the front fuse panel or a single cable from the reversing light connector. See your MXN printed instructions for further details. Monitor PositionWhen mounting the monitor take care that it does not encroach the swept area of the windscreen. This is a requirement of the Vehicle Inspectorate and can be questioned at MOT. The best position is at low level within the drivers view central to the mirrors. The connecting plug to the screen should be accessible so that disconnection is possible when required. Note that as these screens are similar to those used for navigation systems, they are a temptation to would be thieves. It is wise to hide the screen if the vehicle is left unattended for long periods. Need more help?Contact us if you need any assistance installing your Reversing Camera system.
